Closed – AAPA NATIONAL PROFICIENCY TESTING ROUND 2018/19

AAPA and its members have been organising proficiency testing rounds since 2004. The report of the 2017 proficiency round incl. 50+ laboratories can be accessed by clicking here. Apart from the benefits to individual laboratories in terms of improving consistency, the results have also enabled us to propose improvements to test methods nationally. The 2018/19 round will again be a national undertaking, providing all AAPA members and stakeholders the opportunity to be part of the industry drive to continually improve consistency and confidence in test results. Testing in this round will cover the following streams (refer table for details):

  1. Asphalt tests (asphalt mix sample will be provided)
  2. RAP binder extraction and testing (asphalt mix sample and binder sample will be provided)
  3. Coarse aggregate tests (coarse aggregate sample will be provided)
  4. Resilient modulus (asphalt mix sample will be provided)
  5. Wheel tracking (asphalt mix sample will be provided)
  6. Moisture sensitivity: Tensile strength ratio (TSR) (asphalt mix sample will be provided)

 Please note:

  • Test results will be reported anonymously
  • Laboratories can elect to partake in any or all streams of testing
  • Where the laboratory does not hold NATA accreditation for the standard test methods indicated in Table 1, results for equivalent local test method may be reported, but please note that the proficiency z-score analysis will not be valid for such results.
  • Multiple samples may be ordered and reported on per laboratory
  • Results are due two months after reception of sample.

To take part in the proficiency testing please register by 23rd November.
