MELISSA LYONS
AfPA’s Executive Director Technology is responsible for initiating, directing and coordinating national research and technology development activities for the Association which aim to promote the maximum use of member products and services based on sound technical and economic grounds.
EXPERIENCE
Melissa brings over a decade of experience in the research, development, and implementation of sustainable transport infrastructure materials. A proficient project manager, she is recognised for her ability to cultivate valuable and effective relationships with all levels of government and industry. She is dedicated to supporting teams and organisations towards advancing sustainable use and growth of bitumen-based products and technology in pavement infrastructure.
Melissa’s career began at NTRO, where she gained extensive experience leading projects and client engagement activities in the road and rail materials sector. Her work encompassed the development of technical standards and specifications, frameworks, and guidelines for sustainable road and rail materials. She also managed demonstration trials and provided technical advice to organisations such as ecologiQ. Additionally, Melissa has served in a technical advisory role as a Pavement Surfacings Engineer and as a Road Delivery Engineer for the Maintenance Team at Vic DTP.
Melissa commenced at AfPA in 2024.
