Hugh Bradlow is widely recognised as a global leader in telecommunications technology. Following a 22-year career at Telstra in which he served as Chief Technology Officer and Head of Innovation, Bradlow is now President of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering, a body made up of some of Australia’s leading thinkers in technology, engineering and science.

Prior to joining Telstra in 1995, Bradlow was Professor of Computer Engineering at the University of Wollongong and Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Cape Town. Bradlow graduated in electrical engineering from the University of Cape Town in 1973 and received the Doctor of Philosophy degree for research in experimental nuclear physics from the University of Oxford.

Throughout his career Bradlow has been celebrated as an influential futurist, focused on how technology can play a role in creating a better society. During this time, Bradlow has given over 400 presentations and is in high demand as a speaker on topics such as technology and innovation.

Dr. George Chang is recognized as the expert on pavement smoothness and intelligent compaction/construction technologies. Dr. Chang has founded the International Intelligent Construction Technologies Group (IICTG). His research, teaching, specification development and software tools (such as ProVAL and Veta) have helped made significant technology advancements in the above fields. Dr Chang has been the principal investigator for numerous projects that enhancing pavement materials/structures, pavement surface characteristics, etc. Recognized for his energetic, lively teaching style, Dr. Chang delivers smoothness and intelligent compaction/construction related workshops around world.

Dr. Chang has been the chairman for the International Intelligent Construction Technologies Group (IICTG), Road Profile Users’ Group (RPUG), TRB AFD90 Pavement Surface Properties and Vehicle Interaction committee, etc. Dr. Chang received many awards including a Kummer Lecture Award, Meyer-Horne Award, and ASTM Billiard-Stubstad Award from the ASTM; NOVA award from Construction Innovation Forum, Founders’ Award from RPUG; Certificate of Appreciation from TRB; and Emeritus Member of TRB AFD90 Committee. His research work has been featured in over 50 professional publications and 100+ reports.

Dr. David Timm is the Brasfield & Gorrie Professor of Civil Engineering at Auburn University where he has been on faculty since 2001. Dave earned his BCE, MS and PhD degrees from the University of Minnesota where he worked on full-scale pavement testing at MnROAD. At Auburn, he continues to work on full-scale pavement research at the National Center for Asphalt Technology Pavement Test Track focusing on pavement design methodologies, including perpetual pavements. Dave currently chairs the TRB committee on Design & Rehabilitation of Asphalt Pavements and serves on the NCAT and AAPT boards of directors. He is a registered professional engineer in Alabama.

Dr Erik Denneman is the Lead Technical Manager for the Middle East and Asia Pacific at Puma Bitumen. He is responsible for driving Puma Bitumen’s commitment to new product development and innovation, rigorous quality management and delivering world-class, industry-leading bitumen products and services. Erik is an experienced manager of innovation in flexible pavement technology. He was instrumental in the transfer of new crumb rubber modified asphalt technology to Australia and played a key role in introduction of high modulus asphalt technology to South Africa and Australia. Before joining Puma Erik was the Director Technology & Leadership at the Australian Asphalt Pavement Association. In this role he supported the flexible industry in the implementation of performance related specifications for bituminous products, improving the design procedures for asphalt pavements and national harmonization of test methods. Now based in Australia, he has previously worked as an Engineer in the Netherlands, the USA and South Africa.
